Good Timiing Update

Have you noticed that we still have a large number of banks failing ? The Wall Street Journal reported that, as of August 28th, 81 banks have been closed by the government this year. This is an astounding number, especially when you consider that Washington Mutual had about the same number of branches as the entire number of banks that were closed during the Great Depression, and it only counts as one of those 81 banks.

In addition, 416 banks are now on the "problem list", with the potential to be closed. With all those losses, the FDIC insurance fund (to cover depositors in case a bank fails) has dropped from $45 billion a year ago to $10.4 billion. The major question that's emerging now is whether the FDIC will have enough money in it's insurance fund to cover the deposits for all the banks that will close. Of course if it doesn't have enough, then it will be forced to go to the Treasury to ask for help. That would mean the Treasury would have to essentially print more money to cover deposits in bad banks. Ah, the inevitable printing of more money!

Speaking of that situation, we're now hearing about "The Inevitable End to the Dollar's Reserve Role?", another article in the Wall Street Journal on September 1st. This means there is more energy being put out about ending the US dollar as the world's reserve currency or the international exchange currency. Basically other countries are waking up to the realization that they cannot afford to tie their currencies so closely to the US dollar. Even astrology suggests that the US could default on its Treasury bonds by 2015, which is only about 5.33 years away.

We still have plenty of surprises ahead of us:
    1) Our Earthquake Season, with Saturn opposite Uranus peaks on Sept 15th, can bring unexpected jolts to         the economy.
    2) The New Moon on Sept 18th is a doozy, with even more surprises. (See below)
    3) Saturn will square Pluto beginning at the end of October, a cycle noted for the permanent transformation         and destruction of structures that aren't working, including business and government structures.

On top of that, the Federal Reserve chart is getting intense and major change cycles with the Saturn square Pluto cycle this fall. If anything can create changes at the Fed, it will be that cycle.

I bring this up now because as these changes at the Fed occur, this fall through next summer, there's at least a good possiblity (greater than 50%) that the US dollar will undergo major changes too. The most likely change pertains to the US dollar and how well it's acccepted by other countries. Since most of our products are now produced by other countries, this is no small matter and it could result in a large amount of inflation for us as our dollars no longer buy what they used to easily purchase.

How do changes to the US dollar impact banks? You're watching it right now with banks failing throughout our country due to the loss of value for the US dollar. Those dollars buy less and less, which means you need more and more of them just to maintain the same standard of living. As this continues to occur, more and more loans default, and that means more and more banks get shut down. Be sure you are banking with a "safe" bank. Check the ratings of your bank online, and remember, most large banks now have poor ratings.
