A NEW DIRECTION
Today, January 20th, the US inaugurates its 44th President, Barrack Obama. Plenty has been written about the significance of the US electing a black President, so I'm not going to repeat it here. What's significant to me, is that the population of the US shifted its consciousness enough to choose a new direction, one that gives the nation hope. That might not seem like a big deal, but it is. It's our feelings that are shaping what we attract into our lives, individually, community-wise and nationwide. When we have hope, we attract better situations than when we we're in fear, despair, cynical, angry, anxious, or stressed. Astrologically, there's a very significant set of factors that is rare - rare as in it's occurred twice in 3500 years. This situation is shown by Jupiter and Neptune (co-rulers of Pisces) in Aquarius together, with Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) in Pisces. The meaning of this rare configuration is that these planets are in each other's sign and able to help each other out. In this case it could mean that we will get enough of a "false recovery" to buy us enough time to get to a real recovery. That's one possibility. We could also discover solutions to the energy and environmental crises to help stabilize the economy, as well as possibly grow it. We could find ways to start creating a sustainable economy. Some of you have asked me what a sustainable economy looks like. First of all, a sustainable economy is based on investment, not consumerism. Consumers can never sustain an economy indefinitely. That game will always be limited, due to the over-use of natural resources and debt required to maintain consumerism. Plus it harms both ourselves and the Earth when we create and use toxic products. (See the Story of Stuff www.storyofstuff.com for a more complete explanation.) What we most need to invest in at this point is green business, green products, and green ways to live and work. We need to reinvest in our economy so it supports and nourishes ourselves and the Earth. This choice will make a huge difference. Second, because we're in such a challenging situation, we need everyone to be focused on working with their passion and in joy, so we can more easily find the solutions to the challenges we have. This is very key, since we create more positive situations when we're in passion and joy than we can possibly create when we're in stress and anxiety or other negative emotions. Even "survival" mode is not what we need or want to solve these challenges. Third, a sustainable economy will be based on using debt in a different way. Most consumer debt, especially credit card debt, is for "consumables", meaning that debt is not secured or backed by a major asset like a car, house or land. This kind of debt will tend to decrease substantially in a sustainable economy, and instead consumers will buy products with money they have instead of future earnings. Fourth, the Federal Reserve must change dramatically. This is a complex topic, but suffice it to say that the US can never get out of debt when a private corporation (The Federal Reserve, which is neither federal, nor a reserve) is in charge of issuing the country's money, and charging the US interest on every dollar it creates. This set-up is at the heart of the corruption in the system. Some of the wealthiest private citizens make a fortune on the US government's money and we taxpayers pay for it. As long as we continue to allow this situation, the US can never get out of debt and become a sustainable economy. Only two ways are possible to change this: either nationalize the Fed so we taxpayers no longer pay private citizens interest on every dollar created, or abolish it altogether. There's plenty of evidence that the Federal Reserve has not helped our economic cycles at all, and rather it's actually worsened the economic ups and downs. This country went without a central bank until late December 1913, and it's possible it could survive just fine without one again. This might be the ideal solution, but it seems more likely that we might get the Fed nationalized, and that would stop a lot of the corruption. Fifth, we have to create a different type of banking system or different rules for our banking system. The one we have is known as fractional, reserve banking. This means that banks are required to keep only a small fraction (2-3%) of the amount of money in the bank that's deposited in it. The rest can be loaned out. That may be doable, but the laws have been changed so that banks can sell their loans and reloan out the same deposit 12- 20 times. This creates inflation, since there's no productivity behind all those excess loans (beyond the first one). Money is created by loaning it into existence. We don't need to get this rampant and uncontrollable money-creation machine (our banking system) under better control. Sixth, we need a currency that is at least partially backed by gold, silver or both. It might be that the new dollar will only be backed by 10-20% of gold, but that's enough to stabilize it and stop it from devaluing to nothing. There has never been a successful fiat currency (money that's not backed by gold or silver, or some metal) in the entire history of the Earth. So it's important to make this change as soon as possible. Lastly, or perhaps most importantly, we need leadership which will support the growth of a sustainable and nurturing economy for all of us. (please listen to this show for more details, see below). This means the opportunity ahead is even bigger than most people believe. It's all possible due to the shift in our consciousness and we must continue shifting it until we get the economy and the country that we want. So a hearty welcome to President Obama and his team! We're off to a great new journey together! _________________________________________ANOTHER TAKE ON THAT PLANE CRASH I'm bringing to your attention a very good insight from David Wilcox (www.divinecosmos.com) related to the plane crash we had last week. He noticed the metaphoric similarity of the country's situation and the plane's situation. The passengers believed they were going to die. They could see the flames coming out of the engines. They were descending very quickly. They were out of time. And yet that miraculous landing by the pilot saved everyone's life. David Wilcox argues that the same thing could happen to the United States economy and he sees it as a sign of what's to come with our new leader. A lot that occurs in this economy will depend on us and how we feel about it. We can just as easily see ourselves standing on the wings of a recovery, even a false one, to get us through to a real recovery, instead of drowned in debt and other financial catastrophes. So paste up those photos of the plane floating with the passengers standing on the wings and see the economic situation receiving the same rapid help that greeted those passengers. If enough of us do this, it will be easy to create it. _________________________________________ REMEMBER: GOOD ENERGIES THIS WEEK! Between January

24th, we get a period when we can re-make some
connections that will bring us growth. Do you have an idea for
expanding that you’ve considered before, but perhaps you didn’t have
enough time to fully pursue it? Now would be an excellent time to
try it again. During January 17th – 24th
we get a triple conjunction of the Sun, Jupiter
and Mercury. Tuesday January 20th is especially good after the
Time-Out. If you have alliances or partnerships you’ve tried to
create before, this could be a good time to re-investigate them. We
still have energy for high growth through January 30th.
These planets are together in Aquarius, so let your ideas take you
to new places.
