ECONOMIC UPDATE:
FANNIE MAE, FREDDIE MAC AND YOUR DOLLAR Whoa! Now the Treasury is bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to prevent the financial system from failing again. Did you notice that the reason why they did this was because those private companies needed at least $50 Billion and may need as much as $200 Billion to prevent them from collapsing? Together they guarantee or own $5.3 Trillion in mortgages. Even more shocking is that both of those companies had stopped writing down the value of the mortgages that were at least 90 days deliquent. Instead they were waiting TWO YEARS to write them down. On top of that, they were counting billions of dollars in tax credits as part of their financial strength. But any tax accountant knows that a tax credit doesn't help unless you have a profit and they don't. So this was another financial numbers scam, designed to keep the public from seeing how bad it really was. Now considering that the Treasury has enough cash to cover expenses for about 2 weeks, how do you think the Treasury came up with an extra $50 Billion? It printed up bonds to sell and this is how the government "prints" money, by selling more Treasury bonds. And what happens to your dollar every time the Treasury does this? It makes your dollars worth even less. Do you think the government can prevent an insolvency problem by overprinting more and more dollars? It's not possible. The result of this is that you must pay higher prices for everything when you go to the store, or buy gas, or opt for any recreation. Now you might be thinking by now that you are "getting used to it". But here's the deal. We are headed into a compounding nightmare that will create a huge amount of hyperinflation next year. What does this mean? Here's an example from The Crash Course that I highly recommend you listen to and watch online. HIGHLY recommended. Now for the example. This is an example of compounding, which is creating an exponential problem that we can't see until it's very late in the game. Imagine that you are in Fenway Park, and it's been made water tight. You are handcuffed to the top of the highest pole in the park. Now imagine that starting at Noon, a single drop of water is put into the park and once every minute the amount of water doubles. How long do you have to get out of those handcuffs? Days? Weeks? Months? No, you have only 49 minutes. At what point will you realize there's a serious problem? At 12:44 PM when the water reaches 5 feet high. By then you are only 5 minutes away from needing to escape those handcuffs. I'm passing along this example to help you understand how our currency will crash suddenly. When the government bailed out Bear Stearns and now Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, they are printing a LOT of dollars, dollars that are already greatly devalued. Everytime they do this, our dollars devalue even more. If I could draw you a graph of the value of the dollar, it would look like an inverted hockey stick headed straight down to ZERO. With the compounding of this situation, the dollar is devaluing exponentially. It will only be a short time before the dollar hyperinflates and then loses all value. I'm talking about inflation that could reach as much as 100% per day, just like in Brazil and other countries where this has happened. As best I can tell astrologically, we are now at 12:44 PM on the course to crash the dollar. This means we have about 5-6 months at the most before it happens. An enormous financial crisis for the US occurs in February 2009. Hyperinflation starts showing up by March 2009 and continues all year long. If you happen to have ANY extra money that does not go for monthly expenses, be sure you put this money into gold. And do it quickly. Gold is harder to come by now. The US Mint has run out of Gold Eagles, but you can still get gold Canadian Maple Leaf coins and other gold coins. Go to your local coin stores and see what you can get. Check online at www.kitco.com or www.goldline.com or any number of other places. Do this soon though before gold starts going up, which it will do no later than the end of this year or early next year. Now what will happen to other currencies as our dollar crashes next year? They will probably crash too. All countries have reserves of the US dollar in their central banks. And when those dollars become worthless, their reserves will be devalued too. This will be a global financial tsunami. If I could think of another investment that would be safe in this situation, I would tell you. Basically, you need to invest your money in something that can STORE wealth. Most assets are highly variable in value. Gold is not different this way, but it does serve as a primary store of wealth and has been valued for centuries for this reason.
