The baseball strike was averted. The longshoremen's union on the west coast is not yet on strike, and neither is the Boeing Machinist's Union. Right now there is a great aspect going for unions and management to work out mutually agreeable contracts (Saturn trine Uranus). At this time though, unions are not as strong, since Uranus, the planet that represents unions is retrograde or moving backwards from our perspective on Earth. This seems obvious considering the sliding economic climate. You would expect unions to make some concessions in this situation. We're headed into the Red Communications period soon, so this could be a time when unions will rethink their positions and decide NOT to strike. Last week the Boeing Machinist Union encountered both the Blue Communications and a Time Out during their voting. During the Time Out it was announced by the union to the workers that Boeing had been ORDERED to go to D.C. for negotiations with a federal mediator. True to both Blue Communications and Time Outs, this was misinformation and was not true. It turned out that Boeing had been REQUESTED to come to D.C. for federal mediation, but it was not ordered to do so. This meant the strike vote had been taken under incorrect information. (This is absolutely classic for Time Outs when critical information is either missing or misinterpreted!) So all those efforts for the strike vote came to nothing. Those guys need a Good Timing Guide! Keep this lesson in mind though. Blue and Red Communication periods combined with Time-Outs can lead to very expensive mistakes. Remember to double check all details for accuracy now. More On Boeing From Boeing's chart, it appears they could announce they're moving soon. If this happens, it would probably be announced in January 2003 and not earlier than this December. Their chart shows major confusion and uncertainty related to any announcements made at that time, especially related to their future direction and their facilities. Judging just from their chart and cycles, the Machinist's Union may be right in thinking that Boeing wants them to strike. If they are planning to move, then a striking union in hard times gives them more reason to do so and to look at moving to states where there's a right to work law (non-unions). 2003 Online Good Timing Guide Now Available!
