OUR SUMMER SOLSTICE: THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD! "You may not think you're selling out, but you're buying in." James Luther Dickinson Next Monday, June 21st is the day that the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer. This is the longest day of the year and it's known as the Summer Solstice. The first day of each season, when the Sun moves into the first sign of that season (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn), we get a chart that gives us a good indication of what's up for that season. This time, we have a very challenging situation, which is accelerated by the June 26th eclipse that I mentioned in last Friday's update. The Sun in Cancer is very devoted to family and home. It likes to nurture others and feels secure when nesting in the home with family. But this summer is anything but secure. In fact the energies are for major, unexpected changes, including structural transformation and even revolution. Now notice that the revolution is not likely to be fought with guns, although it could be. It's much more likely to be fought in the halls of Congress, in corporate Board Rooms, and with the internet. This Solstice has the Sun opposite Pluto, with Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus all square to the Sun opposite Pluto. In astrology this is known as a Grand Square and it's very dynamic and challenging. No fence sitting is allowed! If you're planning to sit on the sidelines and watch, you'll probably be surrprised to learn that even that choice is considered to be supporting one side of the issue in a particular way. And in this case, the conservative responses we normally choose are literally NOT SAFE. The "safe" thing to do is to get off the fence and start advocating for the changes you want.These challenges start by being hidden from view, suggesting that they may start behind closed doors, so we don't see them coming. This all starts with a major power issue. Can you think of a situation where you pay for something you're not getting? For example, maybe as a taxpayer you think the FDA ought to be protecting your health instead of the pocketbooks of the big pharmaceutical companies? Or maybe you think the taxes you pay the government for protecting our water, air, land and so forth should be used to do that instead of allowing big business to save money at our expense? Or maybe there's a misuse of powe issue at your work that's bugged you for eons? I know you think it would be safer not to say anything, but in this case, you would be wrong. Now why is it unsafe to continue seething quietly by yourself instead of taking action? Have you heard the saying, "Time's up!"? The Universe is yelling this loudly to us. And in this case, the safest place to be is with the change. I know, it's tough because there are no guarantees. Well there were no guarantees when our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. But would we have wanted them to make the safe choice then? The world would be a very different place if they had done so. We're at another pivotal point in time and this time, the Universe is asking YOU to sign on the dotted line. It's making the change that gives us hope, that rebalances the misuse of power, and gives us a new story to live. It's not going to be easy either. We have responsibilities that must be considered, but the biggest of those is whether to ALLOW what's been going on - the misuse of power and money. What's the good news with this? We're READY for a major change! In fact many people are ready to fight for it. They're tired of being ripped off by corporations and the government. Plus there are new technologies and innovations that can assist us with these changes. Those technologies and tools won't be in favor by the large corporations, because they change their paradigm, but as I mentioned, time's up! This summer is the beginning of 7 major years of change, a social and economic revolution. The folks who were born in the mid-1960s embody these revolutionary energies. They came here to be social changemakers and this is their time. The social and economic seeds we planted during the 1960s have come to a crisis point and they need our help. The Universe has brought us plenty of assistance for this purpose. But if you try to be safe and watch from the sidelines, you're likely get run over. This is not the time to resist change. This is the time to embrace it. These revolutionary energies will increase with the Lunar Eclipse on June 26th and then in late July, they heat up even further. August is also hot. From a different perspective, these energies can also be associated with power outages, (such as I wrote about in the Q2 Newsletter) and with big, uncontrolable fires. Other things out of the blue can occur too: volcanoes, earthquakes, asteroids, coronal mass ejections from the Sun, hurricanes, or tornadoes. So please be prepared with extra supplies in case we encounter a period when the power grid is down this summer. If our power grid goes down, it could be weeks before it's fully restored, because it's quite old. So store up some needed supplies first and then go fight your battles. The rubber meets the road next Monday. Be ready! _________________________________HOW BP IS MODELING THE NEEDED CHANGES BP is the latest "bad guy" or villian that we have due to the oil disaster. It's easy to point our fingers at them and holler at the government about what a bad job they did too. But I ask you to consider a different perspective. BP is modeling for all of us a tendency to take short cuts and do things the cheapest way, even when we know we shouldn't. The consequences of those choices that BP made are enormous and could include damage to the rest of the world. We often think our own choices do not make much difference to others, but this is a reminder that they do. Do you have a onerous job that you've been putting off for months or even years? Maybe it's cleaning out your garage, storage unit, or closets? Or maybe it's related to a major relationship that needs to be changed. In your job, is there a major issue that needs addressing? Or perhaps you need to make changes to your home? Whatever the situation, BP's oil disaster is telling us that the old solution (ignoring needed changes) is not working. And it cannot work any longer. This oil disaster is calling us to take action, not just about BP and the lack of government controls. It's asking us to take action in all areas that have needed a major change. This starts with us not tolerating situations in our personal lives that are not in right alignment. We have to stop taking those short cuts and get into personal integrity with ourselves and others. When we do so, the energy to take those short cuts is replaced with right actions for the good of all. This is what will rebalance the misuse of power.
