OUR BANKING SYSTEM
Hopefully you've noticed the news that Citigroup is in the process of breaking up in order to survive. Citigroup will have roughly a $10 billion operating loss for the last quarter of 2008, and that's after taking in $45 billion of US taxpayer money to help stop the bleeding. So it's in the process of selling a majority share of its Smith Barney investment division to Morgan Stanley. But what you may not have noticed (buried in the Wall Street Journal about this on January 12th) is this:

"Behind Citigroup's looming fourth-quarter loss are many of the same forces that are clobbering banks nationwide... The deteriorating US economy is translating into soaring defaults on tens of billions of dollars of consumer and business loans, especially those tied to real estate. For the first time since 1990, the entire US banking industry is on track to book a quarterly net loss."
Basically they are telling us that all the big banks are in this predicament and the situation is worsening. Astrologically, as bad as things were last year, the banking industry had a fair amount of support (especially considering that it got the entire country into this mess). Last year both Jupiter and Saturn were in earth signs, supporting (trine) the banking industry's sign (Taurus). So even though it was a tough year, there was support to keep things going. Now that Jupiter has moved out of Capricorn and into Aquarius, banks have lost one of their major supports. However, Saturn is still in Virgo and trine their industry sign through most of October this year. So there is some support left until then. But you will soon see that the industry begins having further problems.
I'm bringing this situation to your attention because we're headed into some tough cycles for the USA chart involving the money and/or the country's banking system (the USA Venus). The earliest that cycle will be exact is in mid-February, depending on the time when the country was actually started (lots of controversy about this among astrologers). But in March we also get Venus retrograde, so no matter when the country started, everyone will be rethinking money then and the implications of all these challenges. And since we're in rethinking mode now with Mercury retrograde, you may want to reconsider banking with smaller community banks if you're now banking with one of the large banks. Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase cannot be far behind Citigroup in losses.
Are these enormous banks too big to fail? Or could they be too big to save?
